We were set up by the British Medical Association to provide expert legal advice to the medical community.
In 2015 we became licensed as a fully independent law firm, allowing us to provide you with a full range of services. Whether you are a GP Partner in need of a new partnership agreement, a group of GP practices who want to establish a network, or a doctor looking to update your Will, we have the expertise to support you at home as well as at work.
In addition to providing legal services to you and your family, we also act as the BMA’s legal services provider – meaning we stand with them at the forefront of medical policy to represent your needs.
You do not need to be a BMA member to use our services, but if you are, you will benefit from preferential rates. We provide support across the medical community, including:
- Doctors
- Medical students
- GP practices and GP networks/federations
- Local Medical Committees
BMA Law’s expert team of specialist healthcare lawyers can deal with your every legal need.
Our History
BMA Law provides a full range of legal services, to all doctors and their families, from drafting a partnership agreement, establishing a GP network/federation to Will writing and conveyancing for doctors looking to buy a property.
Achieved ‘Alternative Business Structure’ status and became licensed by the Solicitors Regulation Authority.
BMA Law was established by the British Medical Association for its members, operating as a small in-house team of lawyers who provided legal advice to doctors and Local Medical Committees throughout the UK.
Our Costs
Once you contact BMA Law, our first response unit will take your information and refer you to a specialist Lawyer who will handle your query quickly and efficiently.
They will provide an initial discussion before quoting for the scope of work. Ensuring that you are completely aware of what you will be charged, with no hidden costs.

A not-for-profit law firm
We are proud to operate on a not-for-profit basis, reinvesting any surpluses back into services for you and your colleagues.
