Sofia Parmar
Associate Director
Sofia Parmar is an Associate Director at BMA Law, specialising in transactional and regulatory matters in the primary care sector. She focuses on advising healthcare professionals on their commercial needs.
Sofia’s expertise lies in advising GP and dental clients. She assists GPs with practice mergers, takeovers, primary care networks, and partnership deeds. She also advises dental professionals on practice acquisitions and sales.
Admitted as a Solicitor in 2014, Sofia holds an LLB from Queen Mary University of London (2009) and an LPC from the College of Law (2012).
Sofia is a member of the Law Society, demonstrating her commitment to professional development and ethical standards.
With her extensive experience, Sofia brings valuable knowledge to BMA Law. She provides tailored advice to healthcare professionals in the primary care sector.

Daniel Jones
Paralegal
Daniel is a paralegal on the BMA Law team. He recently achieved a distinction grade in his Legal Practice Course from the University of Law and he is now pursuing his legal career.
His role revolves around assisting the legal team with his main responsibilities being partnership agreement drafting, client correspondence and wills administration. His legal interests extend beyond this sector; he is actively pursuing interests in IP and assisting legal director Adrian Fawden on his personal injury caseload.
Daniel was a keen rugby player and has played for numerous teams over the years at a high level, including the University of Manchester 1st XV and Hertfordshire County. He also enjoys boxing and film.

Clayton Williams
Consultant Solicitor
Clayton is a regulatory, criminal litigation, inquest and workplace investigations specialist.
He studied at Royal Holloway & Kings College, University of London and the University of Glamorgan. He has been in legal practice since 1997, working at high street, commercial and trade union law firms. He has represented members of the medical profession in regulatory proceedings and criminal cases/inquests for some 25 years and understands the importance of pragmatic solutions for his clients.
Clayton has a wealth of experience representing clients at workplace investigations and disciplinary proceedings at Trust and GP partnerships throughout England and Wales.
Outside of the day job, Clayton enjoys travel, reading, theatre and is a long-suffering fan of Welsh rugby.

Julian Norris
Consultant Solicitor
Julian’s practice comprises commercial and property disputes and landlord and tenant work. He also advises in claims against negligent professionals.
Julian qualified as a solicitor in 2005 and worked at UK top 50 firms where he undertook insurance and commercial litigation, developing a particular interest in cases involving fraud. This has equipped him with a keen eye for the evidential detail that can turn a case and the ability to develop litigation strategies to realise his clients’ objectives.
Julian undertook consultancy work in both the public and private sectors for a number of years before joining an NHS Trust as head of legal services in 2016, where he dealt with commercial and property disputes, debt recovery, data protection law, and risk management.
He is now pleased to advise BMA members and to assist them in finding and implementing commercial and pragmatic solutions to disputes.

Alya Yasmin
Consultant Solicitor
Alya brings extensive experience to the firm, having worked as a partner at Taylor Price from 2015 to 2022 and as a consultant since then. She has a strong background in residential property, transitioning to a specialization in commercial property since 2015. This diverse experience led her to join our firm to further advance her career.
Alya specialises in commercial property, focusing on advising GPs on leases and the purchase of practices. Her expertise in these areas makes her a valuable asset to our team. She is excited about the opportunities and challenges this new role presents.
Outside of work, Alya enjoys reading, cooking, and outdoor activities. She is passionate about traveling, especially to unusual regions like the Balkans and Central Asia. The work/life balance at our firm allows her to continue pursuing these interests while excelling in her professional role.

Errol Archer
Consultant Solicitor Advocate
Errol is a regulatory lawyer and expert in health and social care law. Since qualifying with a ‘Magic Circle’ City law firm in 1996, Errol has successfully acted for businesses and individuals, regulators and central government departments. He brings his insights and experience of working as a senior in-house lawyer with regulators and central government to persuasively engage with the Care Quality Commission and professional disciplinary bodies on behalf of BMA members.
He supports clients in dealing with all kinds of CQC investigations and prosecutions, Notices of Proposal, Notices of Decision and Warning Notices as well as with responding effectively to draft CQC inspection reports. He works alongside experienced healthcare consultants to support clients with achieving and maintain regulatory compliance. He has extensive experience of supporting organisations and individuals involved in safeguarding investigations and coroners’ court inquests.
As a Solicitor-Advocate he has personally represented clients in hundreds of hearings at courts and tribunals, including at Coroners’ Court Inquests and appeals against the CQC at the First-tier Tribunal (Care Standards). He has also brought numerous successful challenges against regulatory bodies and other public bodies through the High Court process of judicial review.
Outside work, Errol enjoys listening to live music, running and swimming and oil painting.

Joseph McCaughley
Consultant Solicitor
Joseph is a litigation and dispute resolution solicitor with over 14 years’ experience. Almost all his career has been spent helping doctors resolve a range of disputes, from straightforward matters, to matters of the utmost severity, complexity, and value.
Joseph spent eight years in-house at the Medical Protection Society (MPS) as a litigation solicitor. He subsequently moved to Schillings International LLP, the UK’s preeminent media, defamation, and reputation management firm.
Joseph now specialises primarily in reputation protection and management and works with doctors on reputational and risk issues. Work includes, for example, defamation, privacy, confidentiality, removal of negative and outdated online content, harassment, and blackmail. Additionally, Joseph can advise on disputes with insurers or medical defence organisations. He has represented medicolegal experts in professional negligence claims and wasted costs order applications.
