Working at scale
With the drive to encourage GP practices to work more collaboratively, working at scale is becoming increasingly popular across general practice. This can bring benefits to GP partners, many of which come from sharing resources, expertise and premises.
There are many ways that your practice can explore working at scale. Practice mergers are the most common, but aren’t the only option. We have recently seen the emergence of super partnerships, where multiple practices agree to work together, while retaining the traditional partnership model.
If you are considering working with other practices, it’s important that you put legally binding agreements in place early. This will ensure that all parties understand their obligations, and that your interests are protected in the event of a dispute. Given the contractual and regulatory implications that working at scale may have, you should always work with a specialist healthcare solicitor to ensure that you remain compliant.
